6. Professional Responsibility and Ethical Conduct
Understanding that educators are held to a high moral standard in a community, the effective educator ; adheres to the Code of Ethics and the Principals of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession of Florida, pursuant to State Board of Education Rules 6B-1,006, F.A.C, and fulfills the expected obligations to students, the public and the education profession.
A teacher has to make his or her classroom a positive place for each and every student. To illustrate part of the Code of Ethics, I have included a journal entry (highlighted on page 2, above) about a situation I had to deal with involving bullying.
The teacher should be of good moral character, as well as a stakeholder in his or her students' lives. The teacher should be a positive role model for students, parents and the local community. In the above slideshow, the teacher demonstrates this in her volunteering to coach a soccer team, judging the school science fair and participating in activities at school after hours (the photos above are from a Friday night 80's dance in which teachers were required to sell tickets).
Teachers should also be involved in worthwhile causes on his or her own time. I am on the board of a organization for a young boy suffering from an incurable illness. He received a transplant but his condition is terminal. His mother (pictured with me) is fighting for awareness about this inherited disease. I organized a fund raiser at our local chick fil a as well as a golf tournament at The Colony golf club. I also with the help of Professor Rollins recruited quite a few teacher candidates to help with the event.(See photos) The teacher also should participate in school events such as the Fun Fair at Three Oaks (pictured is my son, a minion and one of my students). These behaviors fulfill the obligations expected of a teacher.
